PCJV Partnership Model

The Pacific Coast Joint Venture uses a business model that develops partnerships between public and private agencies and organizations. Our partners pool financial and management resources to fund and carry out on-the-ground projects to protect lowland wetland and upland habitats.

PCJV History and Authorization

The PCJV was established in 1991 under the North American Waterfowl Management Plan. It is one of 18 habitat joint ventures – and the only international joint venture – in North America.

PCJV Organizational Structure

The PCJV Management Board includes representatives from governmental resource agencies and private resource organizations in the U.S. and Canada. At the state and provincial level, coordinators and steering committees:

  • direct strategic planning
  • work with partners to implement conservation projects
  • help find funding sources
  • leverage matching funds.
