WDFW seeks review of revisions to Priority Habitat and Species List
Comments due June 11
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Priority Habitat and Species (PHS) List is a catalog of species and habitats identified as priorities for management and conservation. The list directly affects what the agency maps in the PHS database, and new changes to the list will result in some changes to data that are released to cities and counties.
New WDFW planner to assist Puget Sound cities and counties
Katie Knight (360.902.2618) is the new WDFW conservation planner for Puget Sound. She will provide planning and policy assistance to local governments as they develop land use plans and regulations consistent with the Growth Management Act and Shoreline Management Act.
Special notice for wetland delineation in western Washington
Use of the Interim Regional Supplement is now required for conducting wetland delineations for Clean Water Act purposes in western mountains, valleys, and coast region of Washington. Effective June 27, the Supplement data forms and indicators must be used for any data collection for wetland delineations submitted to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. More info:

Puget Sound Partnership needs photos depicting Sound’s ‘silent crisis’
The Partnership is accepting on an ongoing basis digital photos that illustrate Puget Sound’s problems. Images will be used as part of a public awareness program.

Coastal & Estuarine Land Conservation Program
Deadline: June 19, 2008
CELCP is a national, competitive program that provides matching grants for public land acquisition projects that preserve lands with significant ecology and conservation values.

Facing the Climate Change Challenge: Locally and Globally
Dr. Richard Gammon, UW Professor of Chemistry and Oceanography
Thursday, June 12, 7 pm, Port Townsend Marine Science Center
Dr. Gammon will discuss the latest climate findings from 2007/2008, a review of recent international climate reports and predictions of changes expected in this region, especially in agriculture and sea level, focusing on possible responses at the individual, state, federal and international levels
2008 Estuary and Salmon Restoration Program Nearshore Restoration Workshops
Puget Sound Nearshore Partnership
Workshops will cover nearshore restoration planning, 2008 ESRP Request for Proposals, adaptive management objectives, request for technical peer reviewers.
