Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act (NMBCA) reauthorization
Proposed NMBCA reauthorization would increase funding from the current $6 to $20 million by 2015. American Bird Conservancy has initiated a coalition of Bird Conservation Alliance member organizations including National Audubon Society, Defenders of Wildlife and the Joint Ventures Management Boards and others to work together for early reauthorization and future full appropriations. Trust for Public Lands seeks western county for free regional pilot study: Economic and Fiscal Analysis of Open Lands
The Trust for Public Land is offering a new service to help counties understand the economic value and fiscal impacts of their open land resources. TPL seeks a county in one of the following states to pilot the service: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, Utah.

National Wildlife Refuge Friends Group Grant Program
National Fish and Wildlife Foundation
Deadlines: June 2 and September 5, 2008

Eligible applicants: non-profits including refuge Friends organizations, Cooperative and Interpretive Associations, Audubon Chapters and others interested in assisting a National Wildlife Refuge or group of refuges. Types of grants: start-up, capacity building, project-specific. $1,500-$5,000

Temper of the Times Foundation—advertising for the environment
Deadline: November 8, 2008
Grants promote the conservation and restoration of native wildlife, plants, and ecosystems in the United States. For non-profits only. $5,000—$15,000. Grants may be used to fund the production of print, radio, or television ads, to pay for advertising space or airtime, or to produce or distribute pamphlets, books, videos, or press packets.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service maps of the National Wetlands Inventory are now available for viewing using Google Earth™. The wetlands inventory includes wetlands data for approximately 60 percent of the conterminous U.S., as well as portions of Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.

Trust for Public Lands Conservation Almanac: Federal and State Lands
Covers conservation activity across the U.S. 1998-2005. Includes: total acres for each state, and acres that have been conserved within the state as of December 31, 2005; land conservation activity, both acres acquired and dollars spent from 1998 through 2005; detailed listing of LandVote conservation finance ballot measures; profile of the state's land conservation programs; a discussion of the state's policy framework that underpins land conservation.
